Bog and marginal plants help to soften the edge of your water garden and add character and variety. They also extract nutrients during the course of the summer and fall, which helps to control algae blooms. Adding a variety of these plants helps to complete the natural look of the water garden.

Irises are beautiful plants to add to your water garden environment. They bloom first thing in the spring around April or March depending on the variety. Adding Irises to the edge of your water garden can help soften the water's edge.
While other plants are still dormant, the Irises are pulling all the nutrients and phosphates out on the water. Irises use the nutrients and phosphates in order to prepare for the blooming season.
It is very important in the spring time to pull out as much nutrients and phosphates as possible, because the sun is getting hotter, the days are getting longer, and the nutrients have been sitting in the water garden all winter. Irises help to control algae blooms early in the spring, when your water garden is waking up from a long winter.
Nature Coast Aquascape propagate 22 varieties of Iris. What you see here is a small selection of our stock.

Hardy Water Lilies
Nature Coast Aquascape propagates over fifty varieties of Water Lilies. Many of the water lily varieties that we offer were developed by John Davis. A dear friend of Nature Coast Aquascape, John has been propagating lilies for over 50 years. Many of the lilies that we offer are available nowhere else in the world

Water Lilies are divided into two categories consisting of Hardy Water Lilies and Tropical Water Lilies. The Tropical Water Lilies are divided into Day Blooming and Night Blooming

Night Blooming Lilies are great for anyone that works a nine to five job. These nocturnal lilies open their blooms at about 6 p.m. and stay open until 10 a.m. You have flowers when you get home from work and in the morning before you go to work.

Oxygenating plants are excellent plants to put in water gardens. They are normally planted on the bottom of a water garden to help soften it and get a natural look. Oxygenating plants outperform algae in removing nutrients from the water garden and provide the perfect habitat for fish and aquatic life. Also as the name implies it adds oxygen to your water garden, where it is needed most, at the bottom. Beneficial bacteria which are cleaning your water garden require oxygen to live.

Normally because oxygen enters at the surface of the water, the bottom of your water garden has the least amount of oxygen. By increasing the amount of oxygen at the bottom of your water garden, you are also increasing the amount of bacteria that can live at the bottom. More bacteria equal cleaner, clearer water in your water garden.
